Transportation - The Trucks
|

 Wilfrid
Bands: 220 and 432MHz
Truck: 1973 Grumman Olson aluminum walk in van on a
Chevrolet P30 chassis.
Load space: 12 feet
Load capacity: 10,000 lbs GVWR
Engine: 350cid Chevrolet V8
Tow vehicle for: large tower trailer

Why the name: Wilfrid was previously driven by someone named
Wilfrid. The name is stenciled on each side near the doors. It was
natural that the truck just get called that. It is also know as
"Willie".

 Roy
Bands: 903 and up
Truck: 1975 Grumman Olson aluminum walk in van on a
Chevrolet P30 chassis.
Load space: 12 feet
Load capacity: 7,500 lbs GVWR
Engine: 350cid Chevrolet V8
Tow vehicle for: small tower trailer

Why the name: Of all the trucks this one is the most
obvious. Before service with MGEF Roy had a job as a truck in the
Royal Uniform fleet. The old company logo is still on the side and
the shortened version of "Royal" became the name of the truck.

 Chip
Bands: 6 and 2 meters
Truck: 1977 Grumman Olson aluminum walk in van on a
Chevrolet P30 chassis.
Load space: 16 feet
Load capacity: 9,000 lbs GVWR
Engine: Cummins 3.9L 4 cylinder direct injection turbo-diesel

Why the name: The name Chip comes from the previous life of
this truck. Unlike Roy, or Wilfrid, it has nothing to do with
something painted on the truck. It is because Chip was previously a
Frito-Lay delivery truck.
